Today I went portable in the Alpine National Park and got the first of 15 QSOs toward theĀ Keith Roget Memorial National Parks Award.
I made three QSO into VK5 before running out of time and good weather with the rain just starting as I packed away the last rope from my antenna.
Today I used the quad loop described earlier and found it was very quick to set up and performed well. I do however need to build a simple dipole for 20m that I can put up quickly. At present I only have my trapped 20/40/80 dipole and that takes about an hour to erect as the traps and wire elements need to be connected together.
Only 14 parks to go. Perhaps the Churchill National Park will be next.
I have made map a Google Map showing all the National Parks here.
