Where have I been. . . .

The past 6 weeks have been very quiet around here in regards to amateur radio. My last blog entry was 1 August and my radio log has only four entries since the start of August as well. Three of these entries are VK100WIA and one is YJ0VK, the VK DXpedition to Vanuatu.

August and September are always busy here as my whole family is involved in a Scout and Guide production, Whitehorse Showtime. I am the Technical Director this year and we have at least 9 amateur radio operators involved as cast and crew.

August 2 saw the death of my father who had a big influence on who I am. I first started being interested in radio when we were away camping in a caravan and I would sit for hours and tune around on an AM radio, listening to broadcast stations far away. The RACV auto club would publish a list of all AM broadcast stations and their locations in the strip maps that we always used.
