Today I got the June 2012 issue of AR – the WIA’s monthly magazine.
Inside the magazine this month are the results of the John Moyle Field Day contest I entered with my FT817ND from Mt Beenak. I placed third in the six hour portable operator – single operator. I scored 222 behind VK3HJA with 292 and VK4GH with 462.
Also in the issue of AR is an article by Stephen VK3SN on his solar powered JMFD station set up in the Victorian Alps. A mighty fine set-up indeed.
Stephen also goes out to the high country during winter to work portable in the snow. This year Stephen and Gerard VK3GT will be in the snow for four days from 6 August operating 40, 80 and 2 m as well as 70 cm. I’ll be looking out for them again this year.
