Those who read my blog often may recall my post about the Westlakes Cup back in September 2011.
Well it seems I may have been a bit harsh on the club. The results of the sprint were published in the December 2011 issue of the club magazine and, wouldn’t you know it, my entry was not included. This made me think that my earlier assessment of the contest were spot on.
I sent an email to the club, attaching a copy of my log, and asked if there had been some error with my log and that was the reason for its exclusion. I got an apologetic reply from Dave, VK2RD, who explained that had been a problem with the email address used for the log submission and some early logs had been lost. My log would certainly be in the ‘early log’ category as I sent it an hour or so after the close of the contest.
Dave apologised, sent me a participation certificate, placed an apology in the March 2012 issue of the magazine and mailed me a copy of the magazine as well.
I find this type of response to be most refreshing and a credit to the club.
Now I just need to keep an eye out for the 2012 contest date, see if I can work from VK3SCG for the hour, and put in a more credible score.
