VK100WIA

The Wireless Institute of Australia, also known as WIA, have a special call sign on air to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the WIA and a centenary of organised Amateur Radio in Australia.

The call sign VK100WIA is being shared around between various WIA affiliated clubs, as well as some WIA members.

Today I was fortunate enough to work VK100WIA which was being activated by Bob VK6POP in Perth Western Australia. Bob is also the National JOTA/JOTI coordinator so we have worked often. Bob was the leader of the VK6SAA station at the Australian Venture in Perth in January 2009 where we made over 100 QSO from the scout camp.

It is always good to catch up with Bob on air and in person.
