Mt Dandenong, VK3/VC-025 revisited

After talking with a work mate, also a ham, about SOTA we headed off to activate the nearest summit to Melbourne.

Chris, VK3TYG, had not previously activated SOTA so, after walking up Kyeema Track from the intersection of Ridge Rd, was on air about 22:10 UTC working 6 or 7 stations on 2m FM from his hand held.

I used my normal SOTA set up of FT817ND and linked dipole hanging from a tree. I got 26 QSOs in the log before we headed back down and home.

We had activated within the area of the Dandenong Ranges National Park so the contacts also counted for the Keith Roget Memorial National Parks Award and the WWFF award.

Chris has had his first taste of SOTA and hopefully he will activate again.
